One of John's uncles were home when he found out in 2019 when Walter finally was found with DNA from parts of the plane he was in was found. A quote that was quoted from his mother stated I think until the day she died she thought Bert was going to walk through (the) door one day,” Kozak said. “She never gave up hope that he was alive.”. As relentless as he was his mother was the same with the amount of hope and belief she had in him.

My Eulogy

Mr. Mintus was a fierce man from the people that were close to him. He was a determined to create change within the world even if that meant dying for his country. From growing up in a small town South East of Pittsburgh to getting 8 medals in the military by the time of his death. Being a helpful man to his family on and off the battlefield. Creating good bonds with the two other pilots that were on that same mission with him. Making them feel if they were his brothers by blood. Mr. Mintus was a great person who aspired change within the world as he fought for the freedom that we all have today.
